Celebrating Ninety Years of Compassionate Care

About Silverton Hospital

History

The origin of Silverton Hospital dates to 1918 and a two-story frame structure on North Water Street originally intended to house a large family. With no elevator, patients had to be carried by stretcher to and from the second-floor operating room. It was a primitive set up, but it was the beginning of a tradition of caring that has endured for over nine decades.

In 1937, the hospital moved to its current site, and over the years the building has undergone numerous upgrades.

In 1998, with the help of generous community donations, a multi-phased project was completed that transformed Silverton Hospital into a modern healthcare facility. The continued growth of the community, however, has led to continued expansion as we have added new programs and services to meet our patients’ needs.

Heading the list of renovations is our Family Birth Center. Other expansions have inluded a new chapel, an expanded Emergency Department, a Sleep Lab, and additional space for our Cardiopulmonary Services and Diagnostic Imaging departments.

We are now well positioned to serve our communities into the future.
